Silvio Ofria - Multi-lingual TV star
This is Silvio Ofria - one of our most famous and popular MCs.
Besides speaking Italian, he is very humorous.
Silvio is famous throughout the world as the popular character Mr Theo Poulos (Leah’s father) from HOME & AWAY.
He is loved by his bride & grooms for being funny, multi-lingual, humble, generous and polite.
He is fluent in both Italian and French and speaks conversational Spanish. Let's hear from Silvio himself:
“Greetings - I am a freelance professional actor, MC and Compere. Having trained at The Ensemble Studio’s with Hayes Gordon for three years and graduating in 1983, I have since worked professionally with many contemporary theatre companies.
I have played various roles in notable television dramas such as Fields of Fire, Rafferty’s Rules, Water Rats, All Saints, Wildside, White Collar Blue just to name a few. At present I play a semi regular part in Home and Away as Mr Theo Poulos, Leah’s father.
Apart from acting in various movies, I recently played a major part in the full feature Australian film “La Spagnola”, and have acted in many educational and corporate videos. You may also recognise me from many television commercials.
Fortunately, I speak many languages. Being multi-lingual has enabled to MC many festivals & events. In 1993 at CTV1 I hosted my own weekly television half hour talk back show called Let’s Have A Chat. In 1994 when CTS31 went to air, I produced and hosted for the channel two weekly half hour shows called “Hullo Sydney with Silvio” and “Spend A Little Time with Silvio”.
Apart from working as an actor I have been specialising as a Wedding MC. Why? Well I love it! Wedding MCing is a joyous role which I like to play and where the Bride and Groom are the stars of the show. However, thorough preparation is of utmost importance.
As well as performing various tasks such as the opening speech, the grand entrance of the Bridal Party and the Bride and Groom, the speeches, the special guests, the candle ceremony, the cutting of the cake, the Bridal waltz, the dancing, the throwing of the bouquet, the removal of the garter, the circle, the guard of honour and the rest - it’s my responsibility as a wedding MC to ensure that the night is exciting, full of fun, and that the whole event runs smoothly.
